The length of the listing description may vary depending on the item. The listing description informs prospective buyers what the item is, and what makes it unique and appealing. The following is based on eBay's Listing an item developer documentation article. It does not work when mapping it through an advanced rule, for instance. However, this approach only works if you map the custom field that contains the template value directly – including the replacement tags.

NB: it is possible to combine templates with ChannelEngine's replacement tags, so the content of your template changes automatically according to each product's information. Note that the maximum number of characters allowed is 4,000. Map your product description template.Find the optional attribute labeled Product description.Go to Mappings, Content mapping and click All products to open the global content mappings (i.e.: mappings that are shared across all categories).

If you want to set up extensive descriptions for your product (aka as the 'listing description' on eBay), you can use the Product description attribute:

HTML is either not allowed or parsed in case of product aspects, so it is visible as plain text.

The maximum length of the value of an extra field is 50 characters.

The maximum length of the title of an extra field is 40 characters.

Some attributes are automatically included in the export, such as the Brand, the Condition, and K-type numbers (if applicable).

You can include a maximum of 20 extra fields.

There are important restrictions to be aware of: By default, the first 20 attributes are automatically selected – ignoring the IsPublic status on custom fields, which is normally used to determine if an attribute is exported to a channel.

Scroll down to the Extra fields to export dropdown menu and from the drop-down list, select (or deselect) the desired custom fields/product attributes you wish to include in your product offer on eBay.

On ChannelEngine, go to your eBay channel and click the Setup tab.

Bear in mind that these attributes (or aspects, as eBay calls them) are only meant for short characteristics of your product – and not for long summaries of all possible features, warranty procedures, etc. One of the options is to configure attributes or custom fields to export to eBay. NB: t o create a proper template, you need some basic knowledge of HTML.
